Songs often put into words our personal testimonies of relationship with God. They give expression in ways that we may struggle to on our own. A famous example of this type of song is Amazing Grace. Remembering what God has done for us and singing about it is a powerful facet of worship expression.

11 I will remember the works of the Lord;

Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

Psalm 77:11

The more you see yourself in the worship songs you sing, the better.  I don’t mean to say that we don’t see Jesus, but that we relate personally with what we are singing about, that we sing about a reality that we have experienced and not just heard about from others.

One of my “testimony” songs is Faithful To the End.  A major emphasis of this song is God’s presence with us in every moment of our lives.

It sounds good, but when you really apply it, it’s quite challenging.  Have you come to the place where you believe that God was truly with you in every moment, even the dark ones?

I have been in some pretty dark places, and I have NOT always believed that God was there with me.  It’s something He’s been teaching me, showing me, and giving me faith for over the past handful of years. I’ve wrestled with Him a good bit and I’ve certainly been angry with Him about some of the darkest moments plenty of times.

There is nothing fluffy about singing “there wasn’t a day that You weren’t by my side.”  You have to mean that, or it means nothing.

And this chorus, there is so much “yes” here:

And I will sing of all You’ve done

And I’ll remember how far You’ve carried me

From beginning until the end

You are faithful, faithful to the end

Friends, if you knew how far God has carried me, you’d marvel.  Every time I sing this song, I am reminded of how much He has carried me through.  So often, I’ve had the dark moments of my life flash before me as I sing these words.

And I know I’m not the only one He’s carried.  Others have seen much worse.  Perhaps you can search and ask today for the faith to see God in every moment of your life.  I forget it sometimes myself, but songs like this help me remember how He’s parted seas for me, how He’s led me through fire, and how He’s delivered me more times than I can recount.

Faithful To The End

Verse 1
We’re heaven-spun creations
His pride and adoration
Treasures woven by His love
His careful hands they hold us
Safe within His promise
Of calling and of destiny

Chorus
And I will sing of all You’ve done
And I’ll remember how far You’ve carried me
From beginning until the end
You are faithful faithful to the end

Verse 2
A Father’s heart that’s for me
A never ending story
Of love that’s always chasing me
His kindness overwhelming
And hope for me unending
He’s never given up on me

Bridge
There wasn’t a day that You weren’t by my side
There wasn’t a day that You let me fall
In all of my life Your love has been true
With all of my life I will worship You
