I said yes to Jesus when I was 15 amidst a very turbulent home life.  I was interested in music and was encouraged to participate with our church’s worship team.  From there, I began my journey with Jesus through music and worship (those aren’t always the same thing!) and He’s used it in my life ever since.

Music was an escape for me, but finding Jesus in and through that music was God’s plan for my life.  It is absolutely precious to me.  God has given music to all of us so that we can express our worship and experience Him in a way that nothing else compares to.

But worship is not all music.  It’s so much deeper than that!  And that’s what I want to share with you.  After more than 25 years of being involved in leading worship in churches, I’ve picked up on a few things:

  • Many in the church think that worship is what we do on a Sunday morning, and is often relegated to simply singing the songs and praying the prayers
  • Many in the church have never understood or even experienced the manifest presence of God (at least that they are aware of)
  • Many in the church have not established personal lifestyles filled with worship and prayer, do not know how to hear the voice of God, and are spiritually stagnant or apathetic about it altogether

This is not to unduly criticize or throw stones – the more I’ve learned in my personal worship journey, the less I feel like I ever knew.

Ever feel like that?  Ever get somewhere new in God and just wonder if you were ever even saved?!

Come on, somebody! 😂

But God has been calling and is now calling for more from His people.  Frankly, I believe He is preparing His bride.  Consider these scriptures:

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” John‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?” Isaiah‬ ‭66‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” I Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There are so many more scriptures to explore here, but the Lord has been showing me that His intention to dwell with His people is an eternal longing that is being established here, now, in those who are called out and who will make room for Him.  He is looking for a place of rest.

And spoiler alert, that place is YOU! (But you have to make room for Him.)

So I want to help you discover your own spiritual hunger, or maybe to kindle that fire that is burning dimly in your heart right now.  I believe God wants to give Himself increasingly to those who are hungry, especially in this hour of history, but there are some tables that need to be overturned first.

This is a season for tearing down our idolatry around worship and building up our spiritual houses in such a way that we are prepared to host His presence on a daily basis, to hear from Him regularly, and to respond with radical obedience.

Hear me out – I’m not after helping you be a better Christian.  I’m not after helping you develop a “quiet time.”  I’m not after teaching you how to check more religious boxes.  I want to help you discover a dynamic relationship with the Holy Spirit so that you can become who God has made you to be and do what He put you here to do.

So which one describes your current struggle?

  • What is worship, really, if it’s not songs and prayers?
  • What is the manifest presence of God?
  • How do I establish a personal life of worship and hearing God’s voice?

Are there other things that came to mind while reading this?  If so, let me know what’s got you!
